China halts Vietnam’s $1 billion dragon fruit trade over COVID (September 17)
China suspended imports of Vietnamese dragon fruit for a week from September 15 due to the coronavirus found on packaging and cardboard boxes shipped from Quang Ninh province. According to Vietnam Vegetable and Fruit Association, China holds over 80% of Vietnamese dragon fruit shipment, amounting for one billion US$ a year, and dragon fruit makes up one-third of Vietnamese fruit and vegetable exports.
