Durian sellers prepare for higher demand as the peak period nears (July 1)
As the season of durians comes to Singapore, many fruit traders expect the demand would grow during the peak season. According to the sellers, because Malaysian suppliers tend to sell durians to China as a priority due to the rapidly increasing market for durians there, the price of durian remains high this year, and this would influence the supply of durians to Singapore. Many traders and sellers hope the price can go down from over S$20 (US$ 14.73) per kg to around S$18 (US$ 13.26) per kg for the Musang King durian during the peak period, thus draw more customers.
