“Dragon Fruit - from Production to Market,” FFTC’s latest book, is a culmination of the Center’s six years of gathering and collecting information on the dragon fruit industry, which for the past decade has been hailed as an emerging sunshine industry. Edited by R.A. Fullerton and Wen-Li Lee, the 404-page book, contains 27 articles written by dragon fruit experts and industry players who served as speakers during FFTC’s series of dragon fruit workshops from 2015-2020.
Divided into six chapters covering country reports, production, plant protection, postharvest, consumer preference and marketing, the book, which has been published through the financial support of Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), offers a wide spectrum of topics on the dragon fruit value chain - from a global industry overview to varieties and breeding, new cultivation technologies, country situations in Asia, control of fruit pests and diseases, postharvest handling management, quarantine regulations and international marketing to nutritional and functional traits, processing properties and consumer preferences.
With a Preface written by FFTC Director Dr. Su-San Chang, the book celebrates the coming of age of dragon fruit and is intended as a reference material for researchers, scholars, students, horticulturists, agriculturists and fruit enthusiasts.
